"Feet, what do I need you for when I have wings to fly?”
~ Frida Kahlo
Influenced by pre-Columbian art and Mexican folk art, Frida Kahlo’s timeless paintings, with their almost surrealistic colors, embody women’s inner strength, a passionate love of Mexico and its culture, and her courage in the face of adversity. As Mexico’s most important 20th century artist, recurrent themes in her paintings include suffering and triumph in her own life. Her art recognized the same in the lives of woman in general.
