Whether you are an experienced weaver or never worked with fiber in your life, you will be dancing on the loom in no time!  All you need is artistic curiosity and a desire to participate in an historic New Mexico weaving tradition. Cari is offering semi-private weaving classes for all levels of experience designed for 2 – 4 weavers.  You’ll begin with a brief introduction to the role that weaving has played in New Mexico's history and an orientation to the traditional walking loom.  Or you can choose to work on a tabletop Mirrix loom or SAORI loom.

We’ll discuss design options, various techniques and what you would like to learn during our time together. Then it’s time to jump on the loom and begin weaving for five days. Depending on your level of skill, you can begin with learning the basic technique of weaving stripes and other design elements incorporated in traditional blankets and color blending. For those with more experience, we can work on geometric designs such as angles, diamonds, and verticals.  If you prefer a bit more freeform design, we will create shapes suitable to abstracts or landscapes.

Cari has worked with all levels of ability and can adapt the experience to different skill levels. No weaving or fiber experience is necessary, only a yearning for creative adventure. Just let Cari know what you would like to learn, and she will tailor your workshop to suit your desires.  No matter what option you choose, you will come away with a unique woven creation.
